IPL Photofacial
Overview
With the natural aging process and chronic sun exposure, your face develops sun spots, skin blotches, and irregular pigmentation. These changes detract from the natural glow and clarity of skin. The Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Photofacial is a skin rejuvenation treatment that uses non-ablative lasers to target:
- brown spots
- sun spots
- rosacea
- redness
- broken capillaries
- fine lines and wrinkles
For optimal results. patients require 3-5 treatments at approximately 3-4 week intervals. The IPL Photofacial produces marked changes in skin over time, as the skin continues to improve for weeks after the treatment.
What happens during the IPL Photofacial treatment?
The treatment takes 15-20 minutes depending on the area to be treated. Patients experience very little discomfort. The areas to be treated are cleansed and the actual treatment feels like quick snaps of a rubber band against the skin. Topical anesthetic may be applied to help with any discomfort.
What should I expect after the IPL Photofacial treatment?
Immediately after IPL Photofacial treatment, there may be some mild redness and swelling, which is easily covered with makeup. Patients are able to return to work or to resume their normal activities right away. Some discoloration may be seen in the areas treated, and these areas will flake off within one to two weeks.
What will I look like after the IPL Photofacial treatment?
With each treatment, you will notice gradual improvement in the appearance of your skin. After 3-5 treatments you will notice a significant improvement in the tone of your skin with a cleaner, brighter, and even colored appearance.
